Mill Bank from Foxen Lane

Its hard to believe that this village was under threat of demolition just 35 years ago! In 1970, plans were proposed by Sowerby Bridge Urban District Council to demolish the village. There was much opposition to the proposals led by June and Ernest Hall and architect Arthur Quarmby, and with the aid of government grants the village remains, and new property has been built to attract people to the area. In November 1970, the urban council decided to stop demolition and to seek to improve the village
